Winners of the 16th TIFF Local Competition Announced

On Tuesday, June 17, the winners of the Local Competition at the 23rd edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival were announced. This year’s jury included actress Nicoleta Hâncu, producer Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan, and director Florin Șerban.

The “TIFF Local Competition 2025” Award went to Vlad Bîrza for his short film The Conclusion. The prize, worth €1,000, is offered by Banca Transilvania. Additionally, Numa Film is awarding the winner production services worth €10,000 for the director’s next film project, and Leonidas will offer a year’s supply of chocolate.

Directors Lehel Fazakas and Antal Bence received the Unusual Award, offered by Komiti, for their film The Possibilities of an Escape. The prize consists of consultancy and production services, including support during the pre-production phase (planning, organizing, call sheet) and 3 days of filming with a professional crew and equipment.

The Jury’s Special Mention went to Răzvan Dima for The Waters We Bathe In. He will receive a scholarship from the Film School, ensuring participation in one of the introductory courses in Screenwriting or Directing, as well as color grading services worth €5,000 for his next film, provided by Numa Film.

The Făclia Award, consisting of a diploma and a sculpture created by Ovidiu Guleș, was awarded to the film Ole, directed by Ambrozie Pura.
