Projects Selected for the TIFF.25 Works in Progress Programme

Seven projects will compete for the Transilvania HBO Award, worth 30,000 EUR, at the first edition of the Works in Progress program, dedicated to films in post-production stage.

Organized in partnership with HBO, the program will take place from June 19–20, during the 25th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (June 12–21, 2026, Cluj-Napoca), as part of the RO Days | Industry Events platform.

On June 19, a 15-20 minutes excerpt from each selected film will be screened at Cercul Militar (1-3 Avram Iancu St.) in front of the jury and industry professionals. The screenings will be followed by short presentations from representatives of each team. On the same evening, the jury will designate one or two winning projects. The awarded films will be screened in full length on June 20, at Cercul Militar, in front of the same industry professionals.

The Jury consists of:

  • Georges Goldenstern, he was one of the founders of the ARTE cultural channel and created Arte France Cinema. He served as director of the Cinéfondation, a foundation under the auspices of the Cannes Film Festival created to inspire and support the next generation of international filmmakers. He is the artistic director of Mediatalents.

  • Loreta Gandolfi, Senior Curator at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival in Colombia (FICCI); and member of the European Film Academy and FIPRESCI.

  • Siarhei Samusevich, programmer and critic, working in Content Planning and Programming for HBO and HBO Max at Warner Bros. Discovery.

The seven projects selected for the first edition of Works in Progress 2026 are:

  • Another one, maybe. But not this one – Directed by Paul Cioran | Producer: Claudiu Mitcu, Parada Film

  • Archangel – Directed by Octav Chelaru | Producer: Alex Ivănescu, Cod Film

  • Grounded – Directed by Ligia Ciornei | Producer: Viorel Chesaru, Filmlab

  • King Wray – Directed by Anton & Damian Groves | Producer: Ana Maria Pîrvan, Studioset Production

  • Monarch – Directed by Dan Radu Mihai | Producer: Livia Rădulescu, Redwood Productions

  • The Fear's Artist – Directed by Cristi Iftime | Producer: Marian Crișan, Rova Film

  • We won't get old together – Directed by Marius Olteanu | Producer: Oana Giurgiu, Point Film
